More than 100 to compete in all-female Air Race Classic event

More than 100 female pilots will take off from Maryland's Frederick Municipal Airport on Tuesday for the all-female Air Race Classic, a four-day, cross-country race that has been held since 1929, when Amelia Earhart came in third. The event is a "handicap race," meaning teams are racing to beat their own best times, rather than each other, leveling the field for a variety of airplane makes and models.
