    on gyro capabilities.....

    I have heard conflicting answers on this sooooooo...........
    With the new designs and primary certification on the Calidus, maybe even larger airframes.

    Is it legal to certify a gyro for IFR/night flying?

    I understand the requirements of equipment needed but was told by one instructor that it wasn't a possibility.

    Hmmm, I do not know a FAA regulation that prohibits gyroplane from flying IFR if the pilot and aircraft are rated and equipped with certified avionics. There are many FW experimental aircraft flying IFR and do not know why a gyroplane would be excluded.

    Thanks John.
    I can't find anything in FAR, maybe just don't read it correctly, worth asking.
    I also understand that would require Private ticket and certification, not LS. So the new Basic Med might get me there.

    Yes you would need a private pilot and instrument rating. The new Med is suppose to be easier.
