Brought to Arizona by wellknown gyroplane instructor Britta Pence and presented by the International Association of Professional Gyroplane Training (iapgt), each of the conferences are designed for people interested in advancing their gyroplane knowledge. The events offer opportunities for people interested in gyroplanes to get together with each other for structured discussions and debates on elements of gyroplane flying that are known to be factors in accidents. October 23-25, 2019 Instructor Collaboration Symposium The first symposium is designed for instructors only so that gyroplane instructors are better prepared to participate in the pilot symposium. The Best Practice Symposium for Gyroplane Instructors is a structured interactive conference event where a group of gyroplane instructors get together to discuss, debate and examine different techniques for teaching gyroplane students. It is held as an ‘Instructor Only’ event so that instructors can debate without being observed by their students. Organizers do not want students and lowtime pilots being confused by the content of the debates and different training techniques discussed. The objective is for instructors to: • Review the gyroplane incidents and accidents that are occurring worldwide • Learn how different instructors use different techniques for teaching elements of gyroplane flying • Understand the benefits or detriments of different techniques, in different scenarios • Challenge any techniques, if they disagree with what has been said • Develop their own instructional styles, based upon the ‘best’ of what has been discussed at the event The focus of the event is on the most common accidents and incidents that are occurring in gyroplane flying. After a basic introduction of the process, these are discussed and debated, along with training approaches. This includes: • Take Off Techniques • Ground Handling and Rotor Handling Techniques • Landing Techniques • Precautionary and Emergency Landings Techniques • Other Techniques brought up during the event Gyroplane Conference To Be Held at the Biosphere Press Pass The Popular Rotorcraft Association is getting ready for their international convention to be held from July 30 through August 3, 2019. The event features camaraderie, forums, vendors, a banquet and, of course, gyroplane flying! The forum calendar is filling up, but there are still open slots. If you are a manufacturer, builder, fly adventurer, flight instructor, airworthiness representative, vendor, or an aircraft dealer, you probably have a story to tell.
