Gyroplane Review Variety of Options To write this article, the author spoke extensively with Claudio Pagotto in Italy and with Jérôme Daviez, the French importer. Not entirely unexpectedly, both are convinced of the coming commercial success of this light gyroplane. This is because they see the market seemingly moving increasingly in the direction of inexpensive single-seaters. This is where the Lite Gyro fits in, particularly with the attractively priced Rotax 582 version. For customers who want more options and refinements, Pagotto has something to offer. In contrast to the photos of the prototype shown here, additional features are now available. For example, the dashboard can be equipped with Kanardia instrumentation. The mechanical disc brakes are able to be replaced with hydraulic ones. Other options are the Simonini Victor 2 engine (already mentioned) and a carbon fiber empennage. The Simonini costs 2,000 euros ($1,700) more than the Rotax 582. The carbon tail unit costs an additional 2,400 euros ($2020) including taxes. Finally, three things should be pointed out that seem important to the author of this story. The first concerns the trim and pre-rotation, both of which are pneumatically controlled, just as they are in the Pagotto two-seater. This guarantees easy pre-rotation and efficient trimming in flight. The second is the round protection bar, as you can see in the photos. Structurally, it has no function. But it plays a major role in terms of the passive safety of the pilot and also for making it easy to jockey the aircraft around in the hangar or on the ramp. It also makes it easier to enter and exit the gyro. The protective bar is supplied as standard and can be installed or removed in two minutes. The third point to be mentioned is that the empty weight of the machine equipped with the Rotax 582 is only around 408 lbs. And yes, there is one more important point that was mentioned in the opening credits: In fact, the Pagotto Lite Gyro not only offers a cost-effective offer with an advantageous price/performance ratio, but also simply offers a lot of solo flying fun. The base price of the gyroplane equipped with the Rotax 582 is $22,600. If you would like it equipped with the Simonini, it will cost you a couple of thousand dollars more. The non-load-bearing protective front bar gives the Lite Gyro a distinctive appearance.
